HAND-BOUND BOOKS
Custom hand-bound books for a piano-playing engineer.
I created these custom notebooks for a friend who journals and uses notebooks for his engineering work.
Knowing he enjoys learning piano, the first book's cover features a vintage patent document for a piano, which just happens to be dated the same day as his birthday. The internal pages are cut from engineering graph paper.

The second book's cover is made of hand laminated paper to create a detail of a black outside, red core, and chevron patterned inside. Each signature was individually cut and sewn by hand using contrasting colored embroidery thread to create a lay-flat binding.
METAL SCULPTURE
A fun piece of metalwork to learn basic welding skills.
Inspired by an acquaintance who builds hot rods in his spare time, I decided welding would be a fun hobby to learn. So, as a way to learn basic metalwork skills, we conceived and created this adorable creature from scraps around his shop.
HAND MADE "LAZY MOM" COSTUMES
A tradition of very wearable costumes using a hoodie as a base.
For my child's first Halloween, I wanted to create a costume that was adorable, but that he would also wear. So, I used a simple hoodie as a base and added feathers and feet made of felt.

This became a tradition and has resulted in an Owl, Fox Pair, Dragon, and Family of Monsters.
